The reasons for delaying the digital transmission is that some people are not ready for the switch to digital. I think that that reason is very bad, because there has been proper warning many times about the switch to digital. I've seen signs in stores, and I've even seen commercials since February of 2008, a whole year before the switch. Lawmakers and corporations are opposed to the switch to digital transmission because the TV corporations are afraid that their ratings will drop when people lose their TV's, even though it is entirely the fault of the people for not taking heed of the warning. The consumers that actually need to change their TV equipment are anybody who has Antenna's on an old TV. Even if people have antenna's on new TV's, they should be fine. I think that the companies are over estimating how many people have not yet switched to digital, and that is negatively affecting the rest of us, who are ready for digital. The process is more difficult considering the demographic of the people who need to change their TV's, who are generally older and less likely to go out and change their TV's, thinking that it won't affect them. Some benefits of the promised change are that the signals would be stronger and the pictures would be clearer. This, unfortunately, does not benefit me, because my TV has been digital all this time, so nothing will change with my TV.
